Help Save Lives: Donate Blood!
Why Donate Blood?
Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. It is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. Whether a patient receives whole blood, red cells, platelets, or plasma, this lifesaving care starts with one person making a generous donation.

The Blood Donation Process:
On registration, the American Red Cross will go over basic eligibility and be asked to show an ID, such as your driver’s license and complete address.
During a private and confidential interview, you will be asked a few questions about your health history, places you’ve traveled, and any prescription and/or over-the-counter medications that may be in your system. Your temperature, blood pressure, and hemoglobin levels will be checked as well.
The blood donation process from the time you arrive until the time you leave takes about an hour. The donation itself is only about 8-10 minutes on average.
After donating blood, you’ll have a snack and something to drink in the refreshment area. You’ll leave after 10-15 minutes and continue your normal routine.
